Exploring Writing 2009/2010
Grades: 6-8
Days/Time: Thursdays 1:00-2:00
Cost: $350 (early registration by September 8) or $400/$45 monthly for year
Students will use inquiry and the writing process to explore and write compositions in a variety of genres. Students will learn to recognize and use developmentally appropriate grammatical conventions. The class includes an introduction to research skills.

Effective Writing for High School 2009/2010
Days/Time: Thursdays 2:15-3:15
Cost: $350 (early registration by September 8) or $400/$45 monthly for year
Students will learn and practice traits of effective writing. The class covers a variety of genres, including essays, research papers, narrative and persuasive writing related to topics of academic study. Students will learn to recognize and use correct grammar in writing.

About the Teacher
Tracie Heskett has taught multiple grades in public and Christian schools in southwest Washington. She holds a masters in Curriculum & Instruction and maintains a K-8 teaching credential. She has taught elementary and middle school home school students and tutored high school students in writing. Tracie has presented workshops at ACSI, writing conferences, and faculty in-service sessions.
Tracie began developing and writing teacher resource books for Teacher Created Materials and Teacher Created Resources in 2000. She has written several language arts books, including Traits of Writing (6+1 Trait writing model) and Nonfiction Reading Comprehension. She has also written a teacher’s edition for a writing program published by Celebration Press (Pearson Learning Group), as well as teacher/student activity cards (middle school) in multiple subject areas to accompany nonfiction informational reading books. She has written units for a teacher’s edition for a literature-based middle school language arts program with a focus on 21st century thinking skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. Currently Tracie continues to develop curriculum for educational publishers and teach home school students.
